Stress Relief
Stress in itself isn't necessarily harmful but too much of it can be damaging. It is a well-known trigger for depression in some cases can affect your physical health, which is why it is importnat to recognise & acknowledge the symptoms as soon as they manifest themselves and take appropriate action to manage it.
There are many ways of coping with stress wihtout having to take medication, and one the best ways is relaxation, just take time to switch off, even if it's only for a few minutes to begin with. We have a selection of stress relieving products which can help motivate you to wind down.
Some common signs of too much stress include:
- Increased irritability
- Heightened sensitivity to criticism
- displaying more emotionally irrational behaviour
- Signs of tension, such as nail-biting or fidgeting
- Difficulty getting to sleep and early morning waking, restlessness
- Drinking and smoking more
- Indigestion / heartburn
- Loss of concentration
Some ways to cope with stress:
- Accept offers of practical help
- Do one thing at a time - don't keep piling stress on stress
- Know your own limits - don't be too competitive or expect too much of yourself
- Talk to someone
- Let off steam in a way that causes no harm (shout, scream or hit a pillow)
- Walk away from stressful situations
- Try to spend time with people who are rewarding rather than critical and judgmental
- Practise slow breathing using the lower part of the lungs
- Use relaxation techniques
